SOCIALLY conscious ready-to-wear fashion initiative Emel has been actively promoting and raising funds for various charitable causes in the past, ranging from children with rare diseases and heart defects to coral reef preservation. However, since last year, the brand decided to put the spotlight on hunger.
In its quest to help underprivileged families and individuals by providing meals and take-home food rations, Emel has partnered with international food aid non-profit organisation Charity Right Malaysia, Ben’s Independent Grocer (B.I.G), DS Borneo as well as The Good Shop. Together they managed to raise funds and food aid worth RM70,000 to support 40 families in Perlis for this whole year.
The respective organisations and Charity Right recently travelled to Perlis for the official handover ceremony which took place at Sekolah Kebangsaan Padang Besar Selatan in Kuala Perlis.
The schoolchildren received the food aid boxes from Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and his consort Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil who were the guests of honour at the ceremony.
